Hull claims in calmer seas

Cefor published the Nordic Marine Insurance Statistics as of December 2014 in conjunction with its Annual General Meeting 9 April 2015. The statistics highlight recent hull claim trends and give an overview over the Nordic marine insurance market.

The most notable feature of the ocean hull claims statistics in 2014 was the substantially reduced cost of claims in excess of USD 5 million. This was also reflected in the total loss frequency, which was almost at a record low. The overall claims frequency showed some increase from 2013, but is still at a long-term low - with the exception are fires on passenger and car/RoRo vessels, where the frequency of such claims stays high.
