Introducing Our New Offshore Wind Forum

We are pleased to announce the establishment of Cefor Offshore Wind Forum and election of Lukas Carbol, Claims Manager at NIORD, as Chair of the Forum. See welcoming address by Forum Chair below.

'The establishment of Cefor Offshore Wind Forum is a further step taken by Nordic insurers towards a joint strengthening of offshore wind focus.

The new Forum will represent the members' common interests in the field and contribute to market and knowledge sharing through the further development of the Nordic Offshore Wind Insurance Conditions, competence building, and being a joint public voice.

Since the official launch in November 2025, the original contractual parties of NOWIC have been receiving large amounts of feedback. This itself underlines the broad interest in the main intention behind NOWIC - contribution towards more standardized, and thus foreseeable, insurance conditions in offshore wind. On behalf of the Cefor members, I would like to express our gratitude for all the input we received. This allows us to ensure continuity of the joint efforts initiated in 2023 and build on the momentum the new conditions have created.

Establishing the Offshore Wind Forum is an important milestone. It allows us to address the feedback received in a structured way and continue gathering more input from the offshore wind community. This can now be done formally on behalf of Cefor members.

With NOWIC being the main driver for establishing the Forum, there are other important tasks we were entrusted with by the Cefor Board of Directors. Besides addressing any offshore wind–related matters on behalf of Cefor, the Forum has also been established to provide educational support regarding NOWIC.

Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce the first agreed initiative of the Forum: a webinar about “Basis of recovery” and “Supplementary covers” under NOWIC (scheduled to take place on May 26, 2026). This will be the first of a planned series of webinars, and what we believe is the right way to kick-start the Forum’s activities towards insurance markets and other stakeholders within offshore wind insurance.
